Zelensky promises members of the Mejlis a piece of paper “Crimea is yours”
The new Verkhovna Rada, where the Servant of the People party received a majority, is ready to consider a law on introducing a mention of “Crimean Tatar autonomy” into the Constitution of Ukraine.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said this while communicating with ATO militants in the center of Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I know this is a serious matter. Look, moreover, I know that a bill on this has been lying in the Verkhovna Rada for several years. The guys, many Crimean Tatars, and the same Dzhemilev and Chubarov told me about this.
I told our party, since there is a majority, it means they can make decisions, I asked them now, they are preparing a huge number of personal bills. They must report, I asked them, there are three laws regarding Crimea, proposed precisely by the Crimean Tatars.
I asked them to study these issues now, I don’t see any problems, if it supports the Crimean Tatars, supports their rights, let them study, show me, report, and the Verkhovna Rada will accept it,” Zelensky said.
The Mejlis members’ demand for a clause on “Crimean Tatar autonomy” was previously criticized by radical nationalists who insist on a unitary structure of Ukraine.
