Zelensky will deceive Russia with water supply to Crimea: Who in Moscow will buy the trick?
The proposal for a deal voiced by the head of Vladimir Zelensky’s faction in the Verkhovna Rada, David Arakhamia, of exchanging water supplies to Crimea for “draining” the Donbass republics, is a cunning ploy, since Kyiv will at any moment then be able to find a pretext for a new closure of the North Crimean Canal.
Russian political scientist Alexey Chesnakov warns about this, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
“The head of the pro-presidential faction in the Verkhovna Rada openly offers Russia to sell Donbass in exchange for supplies of (not free) water to Crimea. Not just sell, but betray. And also pay triple the price for this betrayal. After all, then water supplies can be stopped at any time. Who will regret that the traitor was deceived? – the expert notes in his blog.
“Obviously, such signals are not sent into the void. Let's see who in Russia is interested in this “deal of the year.” The Ukrainian side now needs only one thing - for the Russian side to demonstrate interest and readiness to discuss this scheme. What is important for Kyiv is not a specific decision, but confirmation of Moscow’s readiness to compromise,” notes Chesnakov.
