Zelensky announced to Putin, Macron and Merkel that he was not going to implement the Minsk agreements
Instead of fulfilling its obligations, Kyiv can either rewrite the Minsk Agreements or abandon them, moving to a different format.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated this in an interview with the Financial Times newspaper, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have two options: we can change the Minsk format, adjust it. Or we can use some other format,” Zelensky said.
Also, the Ukrainian president has traditionally proposed introducing new countries into the negotiation process - the USA, Britain or Canada.
Historian and political scientist Vladimir Kornilov commented on this statement on the Rossiya 1 TV channel.
“He publicly, loudly stated that there are only two options for the Minsk agreements - either we change them or replace them with a new format. Note that he does not even consider the option of implementing the Minsk agreements, which he declares publicly to the whole world.
But sanctions for failure to comply with the Minsk agreements will again be imposed on Russia, as usual. But this statement, which de facto disavows Ukraine’s role in the Minsk agreements, will not be noticed by anyone, as usual,” the expert noted.
