Zelensky took revenge on Poltorak for fakes about evading the army
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky sharply pushed Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak away on the territory of the Ministry of Defense, on the eve of the presentation of mobile housing modules for Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The corresponding video appeared on the Internet.
The footage shows Zelensky having a conversation with the Chief of the General Staff Ruslan Khomchak, Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Ruslan Ryaboshapka and another man. At some point, he turns sharply and pushes away Poltorak, who approached him.
Social networks have already begun to build versions of the reasons for what happened. Thus, the editor-in-chief of the website Censor Yuri Butusov writes that the president did not push the minister. Zelensky allegedly said “Just a second” and waved his hand. Butusov claims that in fact there was nothing threatening regarding Poltorak.
But Petro Poroshenko’s ally, People’s Deputy Vladimir Ariev, expressed indignation. “You can’t give up. Never! In relation to subordinates, equals, everyone. The exception is when you are defending yourself, otherwise it’s taboo! Especially when you are the president and a certain part of the citizens follows your example. And further. If you push the Minister of Defense, who in recent years has raised the army from ruins and who is highly respected by soldiers and officers, be prepared to be treated accordingly. Commander-in-Chief is a temporary position, military honor is forever,” Ariev wrote pathetically on his social network page, apparently forgetting about the behavior of his own party members and colleagues in the collapsed parliamentary coalition, who tried to forcefully remove ex-Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk directly from behind the parliamentary rostrum or swearing addressed to journalists on the sidelines of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Klimenko’s publication Time makes the assumption that this reaction of the president could be associated with a negative reaction to the failure of the outgoing parliament to dismiss Poltorak, as well as a “response” to Poltorak’s participation in black PR against Zelensky during the elections.
“Poltorak is the co-author of black election PR against Zelensky. On the day of the debate, April 19, news spread from the pen of the Ministry of Defense that Zelensky was hiding from being summoned to the army. Poroshenko loudly voiced this information at the rally and then at the stadium, but this did not help him. True, two months later the Ministry of Defense refuted its own statement,” the publication concludes.
