Zelensky sends Avakov due to protests looming in Kyiv
The resignation of Arsen Avakov from the post of head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine is an attempt by Vladimir Zelensky to put his man at the head of the law enforcement agency on the eve of the inevitable autumn anti-government protests.
This forecast is published in his blog by former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Protests will begin in the fall, and by this time Zelensky needs to have his own minister completely, and before the fall his minister must have time to get up to speed. Vladimir Zelensky proposed a “servant” deputy, head of the Rada Committee on Law Enforcement Affairs, Denis Monastyrsky, for the post of head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs,” the politician writes.
Monastyrsky is Zelensky’s proposed candidate for the post of head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine
Tsarev explains why Avakov resigned the day after a meeting with the new head of the US Embassy in Kyiv, George Kent, with whom they have known each other since 2005.
“Most likely, during the meeting, Kent informed Avakov that he needed to leave Zelensky’s government, because now Zelensky’s team is a sinking ship. I am sure that Avakov will now join some powerful political project, it is quite possible that it will be Akhmetov’s team. It can be predicted that Rada Speaker Razumkov will be dismissed next to Avakov. Razumkov, Avakov and Akhmetov can create a fairly powerful political project that can truly become an alternative and, over time, be able to take power in Ukraine into their own hands. Moreover, since George Kent and Avakov are long-time friends, and Kent will head the US Embassy, Zelensky’s opposition will have serious support,” the ex-deputy predicts.
Tsarev explains that “there will be a fight over who will make money from the last sale of Ukraine.”
