Zelensky butchers Poroshenko like a nut
Ukrainian comedian Vladimir Zelensky has a good chance not only of reaching the second round of the presidential election, but also of leading the country as a result.
The Kiev magazine “Novoe Vremya” writes about this in an article about Zelensky’s chances in the upcoming elections.
The publication notes that today the comedian ranks second in Ukrainian presidential ratings.
“What is more important is that among the leading politicians, the ex-Krivoy Rog citizen has a minimal share of dislike on the part of the electorate: only 8,4% of those surveyed by sociologists from KIIS, the Razumkov Center and the Rating will never give their vote to the “servant of the people.” His main opponents, Poroshenko and Tymoshenko, have the corresponding figures of 51% and 27%. So far, in the second round, Zelensky is losing with a minimal gap to Lady Yu - 23% versus 26%. But he cuts Poroshenko to pieces - 28% versus 15%.
If Zelensky and Tymoshenko actually make it to the second round, the ex-prime minister’s high anti-rating could ruin all her hopes. And a modest “servant of the people” will ascend to the throne, the magazine writes.
At the same time, writer and author of articles on the television and film markets Andrei Kokotyukha, quoted by the publication, claims that the comedian works with a specific audience.
“Zelensky is working with a weak audience that is nostalgic for the Soviet Union and is ready to vote for the Opposition Bloc or its hybrid alliance with the For Life party,” Kokotyukha said.
Journalists recall that during a concert in Jurmala in 2016, the comedian spoke harshly about the country’s problems, calling Ukraine “an actress in a German film for adults,” which is “ready to accept any amount from any side.”
“After the scandal that arose because of this, the leader of Kvartal 95 refused a state grant of 35 million UAH for the production of the animated film Gulliver’s Return. The key show, Evening Quarter, does not travel west of the Khmelnitsky region. But before the end of the year, Zelensky will take his program around the southeast of the country, where his potential electorate is gathered,” the publication clarifies.
