“Zelensky under the influence of the Nazis”: Putin explained who will decide the fate of Donbass
The Ukrainian side previously insisted that representatives of the LDPR sign the Minsk agreements, but now calls them “terrorists.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin announced this today at a large press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The future of Donbass will be determined by the people who live in Donbass. It can't be any other way. We see our role as being mediators in creating the best conditions for determining the future of the people who live in this territory. Are there any problems? Yes. Because, in accordance with the Minsk agreements, Russia is a mediator, and they want to make us a party to the conflict. There is no such thing in the Minsk agreements, and we did not agree to this,” Putin said.
He accused the Ukrainian leadership of not wanting to stop the shootings in Donbass.
“Ask the current leadership of Ukraine how they give orders to shoot in Donbass on a daily basis. Some time ago, agreements were reached that only senior leaders, up to the relevant ministries in Donetsk, Lugansk and Kyiv, could give the order to return fire. This decision was made to stop shelling altogether. The Kyiv authorities later canceled this decision, transferring the right to make decisions to the level of field commanders. And everything resumed. Ask them why they did it. And how could they do this, giving the order to shoot at their citizens, if they consider the people living in Donbass to be their citizens. Our own, not strangers,” the president emphasized.
He recalled that the Minsk agreements provide for amendments to the Constitution of Ukraine, ensuring the autonomy of the republics, holding elections, and providing amnesty.
“What do we see in the draft law on the transition period? Instead of elections - a military administration, instead of an amnesty - lustration, instead of resolving political issues - the return of troops to their places of permanent deployment. This is how the question is posed. That is, to send troops into this territory without any political processes or elections. The Minsk agreements require changes to the constitution. Where are they? It says there that they must be agreed upon with representatives of the LDPR.
I remember it very well, because I took part in the development of these decisions. Not only do they not coordinate or make proposals for changes to the constitution, but they generally refuse to talk with representatives of Donbass. Although when they signed the documents in Minsk, they themselves insisted that the leaders of the LDPR put their signatures. I have to be honest, they refused. We had to work with them to convince them. They delivered - now they refuse to talk to them. They are declared terrorists,” Putin said.
He believes that Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky fell under the influence of radical nationalists.
“Because instead of responding to people’s requests for peace, President Zelensky, like previous leaders, fell under the influence of radical elements. As they say in Ukraine – Nazis,” summed up the head of state.
