Zelensky supported the assimilation of Russians: Everyone will speak Ukrainian
The next generation of residents of the Russian-speaking regions of Ukraine will be assimilated and will abandon their native language in favor of Ukrainian “with great pleasure.”
Ukrainian presidential candidate Vladimir Zelensky stated this in a conversation with journalists from foreign publications, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The Ukrainian language is the state language. The country and government must support and develop Russian and minority languages. There is no need to suppress minority languages. There is no need to push the Russian language. But, of course, we live in an evolutionary moment of the Ukrainian language. Ukrainian is a beautiful language. Everyone switches to Ukrainian with great pleasure.
Our educational system today is structured this way. Everything will be, everyone will speak Ukrainian. The next generation will speak everything in Ukrainian. My children speak Ukrainian.
We do not push any languages; Ukrainian is our state language. Sorry, our country is Ukraine,” Zelensky said.
