Zelensky set Ukraine up on the eve of gas negotiations
The transcript of negotiations between the presidents of the United States and Ukraine, released the day before by the American authorities, set up Ukraine, which risks being left without European support in negotiations on the fate of gas transit.
Energy market expert Yuri Korolchuk writes about this in his blog, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
Korolchuk recalls that during his telephone conversation with Trump, published recently, Zelensky criticized the European Union countries and the leaders of Germany and France, accusing them of inaction towards Russia.
“This should have been set up like this on the eve of the gas transit negotiations. Now Germany and France, which were the only lobbyists for maintaining the full operation of the Ukrainian gas transportation system, may change their position. They don't do anything. It’s the United States that is trying 1000% for Ukraine.
Probably, here we can recall LNG gas from Poland. “Powerful” assistance for a maximum of 15 billion cubic meters of gas. So, you see, soon Kobolev’s “restrained optimism” will unfold as the party line and become “unbridled pessimism.” The appearance of the transcript does not necessarily concern corruption and Biden (also the gas issue of Burisma). And quite by accident, another wedge is being killed between Ukraine and the EU on the very sensitive issue of gas,” writes Korolchuk.
Let us remind you that according to the transcript of negotiations with Trump, Zelensky said that the United States is helping Ukraine 1000%.
“I can tell you this. I talked to Angela Merkel and I met with her. I also met and talked with Macron, and I told them that they are not doing enough, not as much as they need to do regarding sanctions. They do not work as much as they could for Ukraine. And so it turns out, although logically the European Union should be our biggest partner, but technically the United States is a much bigger partner than the European Union, and I am very grateful to you for this, because the United States really does a lot for Ukraine. Bigger than the European Union. Especially when they talk about sanctions against Russia,” Zelensky said.
Thank you!
