Zelensky confirmed that he foiled the hijacking of a plane carrying Russian PMC fighters
Vladimir Zelensky, in an interview with the 1+1 TV channel, confirmed that the efforts of his administration thwarted a special operation of the SBU to capture fighters of the Russian PMC, who were supposed to fly out of Minsk and then be arrested after the forced landing of the plane while it was in Ukrainian airspace.
Thus, Zelensky confirmed the previously heard accusations from Petro Poroshenko’s camp about the disruption of a special operation, in the preparation of which Poroshenko’s SBU cadres also took part.
Let us recall that, according to Zelensky’s opponents, the seizure of the “Wagnerites” failed allegedly due to the reluctance to spoil the planned improvement in relations with Moscow.
Now in an interview, Zelensky made it clear that certain “other countries” insisted on the capture of Russian PMC fighters.
“You and I saw what was happening in Belarus. How the plane landed. How did it all end? How do such cases, such special operations end, what kind of isolation do such special operations lead to?
This was definitely not our operation. I understand for sure that the idea of this operation was from other countries. Definitely not Ukraine. And it is true that Ukraine delayed this issue as much as possible. And the fact that this did not happen – once again, drawing parallels with Belarus – thank God that we raised the issue of subjectivity,” Zelensky said.
He clarified that he spoke with Alexander Lukashenko by phone after the arrest of the “Wagnerites” in Belarus (Old Man then claimed that the Russians were not in transit in a sanatorium near the Belarusian capital, insisting that they were militants sent to organize a coup). The Ukrainian embassy in Minsk handed over the dossier on the arrested Russians to the Belarusians.
“He told me on the phone: “My dear, Vladimir Alexandrovich, you know how I feel about you, how Belarus loves Ukraine, you know, I won’t let you down. Now, not everything is calm with me, I’ll sort it out.”
I was sure that he would hand over these killers to us. However, then what happened happened. This was our last conversation,” Zelensky assured.
Poroshenko’s European Solidarity party has already responded to the interview.
“For surrendering to the Russians a special operation to detain war criminals from the Wagner gang - today you actually made a confession. Lukashenko himself called Putin’s six and told everything,” the party statement says.
At the same time, Poroshenko is silent about how he himself more than once hugged that same “six” and assured them of reliable friendship on the part of Ukraine.
