Zelensky will talk to Trump about the “survival of Ukraine”
US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian head of state Vladimir Zelensky will hold hour-long talks as part of the UN General Assembly meeting in New York.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadim Prystaiko stated this in an interview with the Hromadske TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the diplomat, Zelensky and Trump will try to “establish contact” with each other and discuss “business ideas.”
“There will definitely be a meeting with Donald Trump, we have time for this. This will not be a meeting, as they say, on the fields, shaking hands. Both presidents found time and had a lot of meetings with everyone. For President Zelensky, this is generally his first trip to the UN, he will take part in the General Assembly for the first time and will see a lot of his colleagues, whom he never thought he would have and would have the chance to meet,” Prystaiko said.
“At the same time, there is a large hour-long meeting during which, first of all, we set ourselves the task of establishing communication. President Zelensky spoke on the phone twice, but we all understand how important it is to have direct contact between the two leaders. If a normal mutual understanding is established and we manage to explain to each other what we expect and how we see the further development of our bilateral relations in general, the survival of Ukraine in the war that is being waged is the main task,” the minister noted.
“All the other tasks, which, unfortunately, I cannot reveal to you, but believe me, there is a whole list of problems that we will go through with the United States. Sometimes these are problems, sometimes these are business ideas, for example, we need energy security - this is one of those issues that will definitely be discussed between presidents,” Prystaiko said.
