Zelensky completely repeats Poroshenko’s rhetoric about the “Russian attack”
The words of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky about the possibility of an offensive by the Russian Armed Forces from Crimea in an interview with Focus magazine are a continuation of the policy of intimidation with “Russian aggression” that was started by his predecessor Petro Poroshenko.
Political scientist Alexander Bulavin stated this in a comment to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
“Zelensky says, based on the ideology that exists in the country - you cannot be a patriot if you do not recognize that Russia is at war with Ukraine. Therefore, all Zelensky’s statements are in line with the statements of Poroshenko, whom he once intended to put in prison.
In addition, not being a military man, Zelensky does not understand that Crimea is not the most dangerous direction of a hypothetical attack by Russia.
In general, all these statements are made with Western partners in mind - give us money so that we can protect the world and Europe from Russia. Zelensky, like his predecessor, is trying to convince Europe that Ukraine is the last bastion protecting Europe from Russian aggression.
But he doesn’t understand that they don’t really believe in this. Russia has no need to attack Europe, and Europe is closed by NATO forces, there is a huge contingent of ground, air and naval forces. In general, when a person who came into politics from a TV show starts discussing serious strategic issues, it looks funny,” the political scientist said.
Let us recall that in an interview with Focus magazine, published on December 25, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that if Russia decides to attack Ukraine from Crimea, both men and women will be mobilized.
The journalist of the publication who conducted the interview asked whether Zelensky had thought about the Russian attack from Crimea, where there are now problems with water supply.
“This is a terrible situation, I don’t even want to imagine it. I'm against it. Let's hope this is not possible. Otherwise there will be a big war. We will not go anywhere, we will all fight, everyone will be mobilized - both men and women. This will be bad for the population of Ukraine. And I think that Russia understands this very well,” said the President of Ukraine.
