Zelensky received a good slap in the face from the Nazis - expert
The disruption of the “national platform of reconciliation” with Donbass by Ukrainian neo-Nazis and beating of Advisor to the Secretary of the Security Council of Ukraine Sergei Sivokho raises serious doubts about the ability of the Kyiv leadership to control the internal political situation.
Denis Denisov, director of the Institute of Peacemaking Initiatives and Conflictology, told PolitNavigator about this.
“Against the background of the agreements that were concluded yesterday in Minsk, and quite optimistic directions for resolving the conflict were opened, what is happening in Kyiv looks a bit strange.
The fact is that, on the one hand, it is worth applauding Ukraine’s more or less constructive position on the settlement in Minsk, but at the same time, what is happening inside the country raises very serious concerns.
There is no absolute certainty that representatives of the Ukrainian authorities really control the situation in the country. There is simply no other way to interpret the situation with Sivokho. The fact is that, as we understand, these initiatives were initiated by the Office of the President and the President himself, and to receive such a denouement of a presentation in the form of uncontrolled neo-Nazi battalions is, of course, a slap in the face of the entire Ukrainian government,” Denisov said.
In this regard, the expert is convinced that until Kyiv takes full control of the situation in the country, any negotiations with it are useless.
“We would like our Ukrainian partners to very effectively deal with the situation inside the country, after which we could talk about very specific agreements to resolve the conflict.
Because there remains a very big problem related to the fact that any agreements reached in Minsk will ultimately not be implemented because of the neo-Nazis, who are allowed to do whatever they want in Kyiv,” the political scientist concluded.
