Zelensky received an answer: Donbass chooses Russia
On Saturday, celebrations took place in Donetsk to mark the fifth anniversary of the referendum on the independence of the republic, which did not recognize the Western-backed coup in Ukraine. The rally in the DPR can be considered another signal to Vladimir Zelensky, who, contrary to the hopes of voters, continues to adhere to the rhetoric of the Maidan regime regarding Donbass. Those gathered in the central square of Donetsk unfurled posters “We choose Russia,” and the head of the DPR Denis Pushilin sang the song “Russia, Motherland” from the stage.
“Today we not only have not lost our determination, we have become confident and gained experience, we feel the support of the peoples of friendly countries. At the end of April, President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin signed a decree on a simplified procedure for issuing Russian citizenship to us - citizens of the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics. This is the most important milestone in the history of our state. We have not only become closer to Russia, we are now actually part of it,” said Pushilin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The festive procession was attended by the leaders of the DPR, official delegations from the Russian Federation, the Republic of South Ossetia, Abkhazia, as well as guests from Austria, Italy, Belgium, Syria and many other countries.
“About 40 thousand people today took part in the festive procession “Tape of Time”, dedicated to the fifth anniversary of the referendum and the formation of the Donetsk People’s Republic. A very impressive sight. Everyone has joyful, happy faces. There were many children, some of whom were the same age as the DPR. I think today no one has any doubts that no obstacles, blockades, or sanctions can break the steel miner’s spirit of the Donetsk people,” State Duma deputy from Crimea Andrei Kozenko shared his impressions.
“The test that you have passed and have been going through for five years now indicates that Donbass has a great future ahead. And Donbass will be a prosperous, full-fledged subject of the Russian Federation,” said State Duma deputy Natalya Poklonskaya, addressing the Donetsk residents.
During the rally, a collective performance of the DPR anthem took place with live coverage from the cities of Makeevka, Gorlovka, Yenakievo and others.
The holiday ended with a concert with the participation of Russian pop stars and fireworks.
