Zelensky promised to return Saakashvili’s passport and political post
The new Ukrainian president will need ex-President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili as a “serious consultant.”
Ukrainian presidential candidate and leader of the election race Vladimir Zelensky stated this during a visit to the polling station, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Let him come. It seems to me that Mikheil Saakashvili plays his most important role today when he defends the democracy of Ukraine in Europe and shows this with all his actions. I think that he is a serious diplomat and a very serious consultant for any candidate who is entering politics today and who will become president. I think the help of such a person will be needed,” said the showman.
At the same time, Zelensky noted that Saakashvili is ready for a big post in the new government of Ukraine, and the Ukrainian citizenship taken away by current President Poroshenko should be returned to him.
“We held a vote, and a lot of people said that Mr. Saakashvili is ready to occupy a big post in the Ukrainian government. I think that if his citizenship was taken away, they should return it,” he added.
At the same time, when asked by a journalist whether anything would be offered to Mikheil Saakashvili if he wins, Vladimir Zelensky answered briefly: “Political post.”
