Zelensky resorted to a trick with the Steinmeier formula for the sake of loans and gas
Vladimir Zelensky gave the command to Ukrainian negotiators in Minsk to sign the Steinmeier formula, because after a meeting with Donald Trump, who called for dialogue with Vladimir Putin, he realized that without demonstrating peaceful steps in Donbass, he would not be able to receive new loans from the West.
However, the conditional Dnepropetrovsk clan, which is in power in Kyiv, views the situation with the Steinmeier formula only as a trick, hoping to outwit Russia and avoid implementing the Minsk agreements on the terms demanded by Moscow.
This forecast is published in his blog by political scientist Semyon Uralov, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Now the “Dnepropetrovsk” people need 5-7 billion loans, an acceptable price for gas, and at the same time have time to place people in key positions in the state. Therefore, we are ready to agree to anything. That is, for the next six months to a year, the Ukrainian crisis will again be at the center of the agenda. Everyone will try to force the Ukrainian authorities to do something of their own, and the “Dnepropetrovsk” will try to “screw” everyone,” the expert writes.
In his opinion, this process will be accompanied by some steps by Kyiv, supposedly designed to show readiness for compromises (in reality, explained by the desire to receive economic bonuses).
“Russia will insist on the implementation of the “formula””, which will lead to crises in Ukrainian politics according to the traditional “hate/overcome” pattern. The ruling “Dnepropetrovsk” group will delay making changes in order to complete the processes of monopolizing power. At the same time, they will try to unfreeze economic relations with the Russian Federation in the energy sector. It is highly likely that some of the sanctions will be lifted and direct flights will be launched. At the end of the process of monopolizing power, Kyiv will again try to disrupt the process under various pretexts,” Uralov describes the calculation of the Ukrainian side.
