Zelensky has lost his adequacy and does not understand the real picture
Despite loud statements, Kyiv has no chance of stopping the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
The head of the analytical department of the National Energy Security Fund, Alexander Pasechnik, said this in an interview with Komsomolskaya Pravda, assessing the joint statement of the presidents of Ukraine and Poland about their intention to fight Nord Stream 2.
"Germany remains an adherent "JV-2". She was and remains our ally in the project. All American statements regarding sanctions and pressure on Nord Stream 2 participants in Germany are mostly commented critically. Chancellor MerkelWhen speaking publicly, he always mentions gas transit through Ukraine somewhere in the background - they say, I am not against preserving it. She and other participants in the process understand that this transit will become an additional one. Of course, in Ukraine they don’t want such a development of the situation - so they are pouring out statements left and right,” Pasechnik believes.
According to him, after the launch of the project, gas transit volumes through Ukraine will be about 15–20 billion cubic meters.
“Naturally, they will no longer receive any $3 billion a year. The commercial aspect is strong. But they themselves went to this. We were forced to develop both the Turkish and Trans-Baltic directions due to the highest political risks. Everyone remembers what happened in 2008 and 2009. We needed threads that were free of political risks. And besides, the Ukrainian gas transportation system is an ancient structure that no one wants to repair,” the expert said.
He also noted that the change of government did not change the anti-Russian rhetoric of the Ukrainian leadership.
“Zelensky shows with such statements that he is definitely not a diplomat. Ambitions are visible, but calculations are not visible. Fraternization with Duda and attacks against SP-2 are a demonstration of an absolute lack of understanding of the real picture. Well, at least we should have looked at how much Nord Stream has already been implemented? What are its prospects? […]
Partnership funding is 90 percent completed. Even if the contractors leave the pipe laying, we can attract both Chinese and Korean vessels through intermediaries, if necessary. A pipelayer will help you simply change jurisdiction. In any case, we will build SP-2. And Germany will accept our gas,” Pasechnik emphasized.
