Zelensky tied Poroshenko's hands and feet
The team of presidential candidate Vladimir Zelensky imposed its agenda on Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, forcing him to spend all his energy on it.
Political scientist Kirill Molchanov stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to him, the past week showed that tactically Zelensky’s staff outplayed Poroshenko because they successfully played for time.
“They constrained any actions of the current president, imposing on him their agenda, which revolved around the place of the debate, its form, time, analysis. That is, in fact, the current head of state threw all his resources into this media fight with Zelensky regarding the debates instead of working with voters. Instead of carrying out some serious personnel rotations, instead of seizing the initiative in other areas, for example, filing the same impeachment bill that Zelensky constantly talks about,” the expert said.
He believes that Poroshenko cannot be defeated with words alone without actions.
“Maybe we should hold some international negotiations on Donbass, promote some kind of economic bloc. But Zelensky’s team simply imposed a fight on him solely in form, and not in essence, and in this context, time will play against Poroshenko. If this week everything comes down to the fact that they will agree on these debates for the hundred hundredth time, then, of course, the current president will lose,” Molchanov concluded.
