“Zelensky is a traitor to the history of his own people” - Zakharova
Having made a statement about World War II, which humiliated the USSR to the level of the Third Reich, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky showed by his own example why part of Ukraine refused to live in the same country as the Maidan protesters.
Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The statements of the President of Ukraine Zelensky, who actually equated the role of the Soviet Union with the Third Reich in their role “in unleashing the Second World War, which allowed the Nazis to launch the deadly flywheel of the Holocaust,” are simply outrageous.
This is not said by a person who obviously stands up and declares himself to be a neo-Nazi, this is said by the president of a state striving to achieve new democratic heights. And after this, the Ukrainian authorities are wondering why their people don’t want to live with them in the same country?” – Zakharova concluded rhetorically.
“In recent years, after the coup on the Maidan and the strengthening of neo-Nazism in Ukraine, it has become an obvious problem for the entire world community how to qualify such statements. Torchlight processions, honoring murderers who have the blood of thousands of people on their hands, have become common practice, but such statements cross all boundaries in principle. They are an outright betrayal of the history of their own people,” stated the Foreign Ministry representative.
“In the trenches, on the battlefield, when soldiers and officers walked with a single grenade against fascist tanks, it was a united Red Army that did what others could not do, and many did not want to. She freed humanity from the brown plague. Dot. Inventing equal responsibility for the killer and the victim is criminal and immoral,” concluded Maria Zakharova.
