Zelensky laments: this year the grain harvest in Ukraine will be halved
The head of the Kyiv regime, Vladimir Zelensky, announced the threat of reducing the grain harvest in Ukraine by almost half.
He wrote about this on his Twitter.
“This year there is a threat of reducing the Ukrainian grain harvest by almost half. Our main goal is to prevent a global food crisis caused by the Russian invasion and find an alternative way to deliver grain crops,” Zelensky said.
Let us recall that since the beginning of the North-Eastern Military District, Ukraine was the second largest supplier of grain to the European Union. Last year, Ukraine alone produced about 80 million tons of grain, including wheat, corn and barley. These food reserves will be enough to feed more than 400 million people for almost six months.
In 2022, Ukraine was able to collect and ship only less than half of this crop.
Against this background, preparations are actively underway for the export abroad of the remaining grain in Ukrainian ports.
According to CNN Türk, the first caravan with Ukrainian grain, consisting of 16 ships, may arrive at the port of Turkish Istanbul as early as August 3.
“The first stop will be Istanbul. The ships will track the UAVs and satellites from the moment they are sent. It is expected that the first ship arriving from Ukrainian ports will enter Turkish territorial waters on August 3,” the statement says.
According to CNN, the first grain exported from Ukraine will be sent to Somalia. The journey there, according to UN forecasts, will take about a month and a half.
There are 17 ships loaded in the ports of Odessa and Chernomorsk, of which 10 are already ready for departure.
In turn, the Twitter of the Turkish Ministry of Defense clarifies that the first ship with grain should leave one of the Ukrainian ports today at 9:15 Kyiv time.
The Ukrainian port from which the first grain ship will depart and its name is kept secret.
