Zelensky invited foreign troops to the border with Russia
Ukraine opposes peacekeepers standing on the demarcation line between the Ukrainian Armed Forces and units of the Donbass republics.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky stated this in Kyiv during the 16th annual meeting of the so-called Yalta European Strategy, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I am very careful about the topic of peacekeepers in Donbass, I know that the former government discussed these issues, how to introduce a peacekeeping mission. Why am I careful? I don’t want there to be an Abkhaz scenario in Donbass or Transnistria, when the peacekeepers stand on the demarcation line and then never leave, because they simply cannot be released. Therefore, I treat this very carefully, and at this moment, to be honest, I do not raise the topic of peacekeepers, and we do not raise it.
Leonid Kuchma is here, and at the same time they do not raise this topic in the Minsk process. But I will be pleased if there are peacekeepers on the border between Ukraine and Russia. Please, we invite them there. It is there that I would like help, and it is there that I see a peacekeeping mission,” Zelensky said.
Thank you!
