Zelensky hid behind his Jewish origin
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is following the course that was set under his predecessor Petro Poroshenko.
Deputy Director of the Ukrainian Institute for Policy Analysis and Management Kirill Molchanov stated this in a commentary to Moskovsky Komsomolets, answering the question of how far anti-Semitism has gone in Ukraine.
“Zelensky will insist to the last that there are no problems with nationalists in the country, but in reality the situation is different. Therefore, he has to pass “between the raindrops”, hiding behind his ethnic origin. The country officially supports the glorification of Shukhevych, Bandera, and so on. This course was set under the previous president Petro Poroshenko, who made them the pillar of his power. In this matter, Zelensky is the full legal successor of his predecessor,” the expert said.
At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that Zelensky was elected as an “anti-Poroshenko”, and not as his lighter version.
“It was in the humanitarian direction that changes were most expected. But Zelensky does not have his own team, so he is forced to rely on what came before him. However, over the past 5 years there have been no more nationalists. Their aggregate rating does not exceed 2%, but they are very active. There are suspicions that they cooperate with law enforcement agencies, thanks to which their activities are not interfered with. Well, in many ways it is beneficial for the authorities to trust radicals with the dirty work that they don’t want to do themselves,” Molchanov concluded.
Recently, Zelensky, in an interview with Israeli media, said that there is an extremely low level of anti-Semitism in Ukraine, which supposedly confirms his Jewish origin.
