Zelensky called on Ukrainians not to believe “fake news” and “dead politicians”
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky said that there will be no “zrada” at the “Normandy meeting”, and dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin is necessary to end the war, and also called not to trust “dead politicians,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
He said this in a video message in the format of a “selfie on the go” on a treadmill in the gym, published on official pages on social networks.
“This week we begin preparations for the meeting of the four leaders in the Normandy Four format. This is already a victory for us. This is an opportunity that has appeared after 3 years of silence in diplomacy, but a real war in our Donbass. This is a great opportunity to start a dialogue, because it is dialogue that can lead to the return of the main thing - our people, there are a lot of them, families are waiting for them, children are waiting for them,” Zelensky noted.
He stated that in this dialogue it is very important “not just to raise topics, but to raise one thing, but to resolve the issue of returning our territories: what is the time frame, how to move on in general, how can we return the territories and be one country.”
“I would like you, the people who trusted me and our team, not to pay attention to some political forces, some politicians who, I think, have already died as politicians, but as people they were never born. I want you not to pay attention to their slogans, some kind of fake propaganda, because no one needs them anymore - these people. They play on the emotions of Ukrainians, on this very sensitive topic. Nobody remembers about them, and this is the only opportunity for them to catch this hype, but this is not the topic on which they catch hype, because every day we lose people,” Zelensky emphasized.
According to him, unnamed politicians today have no opportunity to stop the war, end the war or return people, “people’s trust and even political ratings.”
“You trusted me, you trust me, there was no hostility and there cannot be, but I will be more confident and behave stronger at this meeting if I know that the country trusts me, and all our independent people are behind me. Don’t trust anyone: no one can go to war, no one wants to go and lose hundreds of thousands more people - we cannot afford it. This is only diplomacy. And if there is no dialogue... What else are they saying? What kind of dialogue can Zelensky have with Putin? You know, it’s possible without this dialogue, but it’s like running on a treadmill - you do something, lose calories, but you’re in place. We don’t want to be in place,” Zeoensky added.
All four leaders - Ukraine, Russia, Germany and France - agreed to hold a meeting in the Normandy format. It is due to take place on December 9th.
