Zelensky will continue shelling Donbass and the water blockade of Crimea
Despite the common danger of coronavirus for everyone, there is no need to speak unequivocally about the emergence of a constructive approach on the part of the Ukrainian authorities: some are already talking about a change in tone in relations with Russia, while others, on the contrary, insist on increasing confrontation.
This was stated during a plenary session of the Russian parliament by the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, United Russia deputy Konstantin Zatulin, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The tactics of the Ukrainian side on the line of contact with the armed forces of the unrecognized republics of Donetsk and Lugansk have not changed. Shelling is taking place - they, of course, are not intense, but I want to draw your attention: the Ukrainian side has refused to disengage forces along the entire line of contact, what does this mean in reality?
If you refuse such a comprehensive freeze of the conflict, it means that you reserve for yourself the opportunity at any time to organize provocations, launch attacks, and then blame the whole world and, above all, the opposing side for this. Therefore, the tactics of the Ukrainian side, unfortunately, are still the same.
In Ukraine they cannot move to a common sense approach. The Verkhovna Rada is discussing the issue of banning the supply of water to Crimea by law. By law! Not just to do it the way it is now - the North Crimean Canal is blocked, but to do it in a legislative manner and so on. That is, logic - the worse it is for them there, the better it is for us.
As long as Ukraine continues to follow this path, unfortunately, we cannot seriously count on improving relations, although, as you know, efforts are being made in this direction,” Zatulin said.
“As for the current epidemic, it is possible to interpret in different ways what conclusions the Ukrainian political class will draw and how it will use it. Some will talk on this basis and are already talking about changing the tone in relations with Russia, while others, on the contrary, insist on intensifying confrontation,” the deputy added.
