“Ukraine is not the last target of Russian aggression. Russian occupiers want to take Nikolaev and occupy Odessa. And from Odessa it’s one step to Moldova. Russian propagandists say that Moldova is a target for Russian expansion. Therefore, it is fundamentally important to protect the independence and statehood of Moldova,” Zelensky said.

By the way, Romanian nationalists from the organization “Heirs of Eminescu” staged a picket against Zelensky in front of parliament today. True, they were outraged not by the war, but by the discrimination against the Romanian language in Ukraine.

“As they say, with such well-wishers, you don’t need any enemies. What could be a healthy reaction from the Republic of Moldova to such a fundamental goal? Fuck you, you pest! Get lost, get lost! Get out! You already defended me from Russia once... Judging by Maia Sandu’s recent interview about neutrality, with all the diplomatic equivocations, this is roughly how they react in Chisinau,” political scientist Alexander Nosovich commented on the words of the Ukrainian president in his Telegram channel.

The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu herself, could not answer Zelensky today, because she was busy refuting yesterday’s information from the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that the army of Transnistria was “forced to war against Ukraine.”

“News appeared in the media about some military movements on the territory of Transnistria. The number of Russian peacekeepers in the Transnistrian region has not increased - they all cross the border of Moldova, so reports that there are more of them are not true. Moldova does not see things in Transnistria that would indicate a change in the security situation,” Sandu said, diplomatically not mentioning the general staff of the “brotherly” country in the Eastern Partnership with NATO.

The PMR Foreign Ministry was more specific.

“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Transnistria is authorized to declare that the information disseminated by the General Staff of Ukraine is absolutely untrue. All military units on the territory of the Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic are located in places of permanent deployment and carry out their activities in a standard operating mode. At the same time, they deliberately minimized even their planned activities to maintain the peace of our Ukrainian neighbors,” the diplomatic department said in a statement.

It is significant that Tiraspol simply did not react to the latest provocation in the Ukrainian media, which trumpeted that the letter Z was allegedly present on the uniform of Russian peacekeepers. But Moldovan representatives in the Joint Control Commission hastened to protest.

The Ukrainian authorities have previously provoked Moldova to open a “second front.” In mid-March, the Military Television of the Ukrainian Armed Forces stated that the Calibers that bombed the Vinnitsa airfield were launched from Transnistria, although there are no such weapons there. The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense reluctantly denied this information only after authorities in both Chisinau and Tiraspol called it fake.

The scandalous deputy of the Verkhovna Rada, Alexey Goncharenko, caused panic in Moldovan society when he announced that martial law was being introduced in Moldova. This fake also had to be refuted by official Chisinau.

The Ukrainian authorities closed all checkpoints on the border with Transnistria and blew up the railway bridge across the Kuchurgan River that connected the two countries.
