Zelensky publicly reproached Merkel for the lack of military assistance

Germany, unlike the USA and Great Britain, refused Kyiv military supplies as support in the conflict with Moscow. However, Ukraine expects to receive help from Berlin in a different form.

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky announced this during a briefing, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“We turned to the UK and received support. We addressed the United States, and very substantively, I am going to discuss these issues with President Biden at meeting 31.

Also we approached the German government regarding arms supplies, and indeed, in one form or another, we received refusals", - he said.

Germany will not provide more assistance to Ukraine than its NATO membership requires, Chancellor Angela Merkel explained.

“I have not dealt in detail with the issue of arms supplies. We are quite clear, but when it comes to cooperation within NATO, there are joint meetings between Ukraine and NATO.

We, as Germans, as part of NATO, when it comes to exercises and support, we are ready. But I did not make any concrete proposals,” Merkel said.

Zelensky continued to insist on the need for assistance to Kyiv.

«Mrs. Merkel correctly said that within the framework of the NATO exercises, both Europe and Germany supported us. But we need substantive things, and we know in which areas Germany could support us, we really really hope and expect this,” said the Ukrainian president.
