On June 16, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis arrived in Kyiv to meet with Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.

Let us note that instead of the anthem, the Ukrainian capital at the station turned on an air raid siren for distinguished guests arriving by train (although there was no danger - moreover, according to political scientist Marat Bashirov, the security of European officials notified Russia in advance about the route of their movement and place of overnight stay in Kyiv). However, Macron subsequently compensated for the absence of the Ukrainian anthem.

“Zelensky specially organized a fake air raid alarm, allegedly because of a military attack by the Russian army on Kyiv. Still, Zelensky is not just an actor, producer and PR man. He's also a clown. The leaders of Western countries are all swallowing this shame,” comments political scientist Sergei Markov.

After the negotiations at the Mariinsky Palace, the leaders of the countries gave a press conference, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports. Zelensky immediately latched onto the air raid theme to start asking for heavy weapons for Ukraine.

“In Kyiv, an air raid siren sounded at the station, as it now sounds in most regions of our country. This suggests that Russia does not choose who and when to threaten, who in Europe to give security...

We appreciate the support already provided from our partners, but we are waiting for new deliveries, first of all, of heavy weapons, modern rocket artillery, missile defense systems, and so on. Each batch of such supplies means saved Ukrainians, and every day that deliveries are delayed is an opportunity for Russia to kill Ukrainians and destroy our cities...

We all heard when the air raid siren sounded that Russia was looking for new ways to intimidate Europe and seize more and more of our land,” the showman said.

He also added that the main assistance to Kyiv is support in European integration. According to him, granting Ukraine candidate status for EU membership will strengthen the whole of Europe. In addition, the Ukrainian president complained about Russia, which is allegedly blocking Odessa ports, and thanked Romania for providing logistics assistance in the transit of grain.

In turn, Chairman of the Council of Ministers of Italy Mario Draghi assured that Italy will support Ukraine in the issue of candidacy, but noted that we are talking about a whole path that involves deep reforms. The Italian prime minister was much more concerned about the issue of Ukrainian grain.

“As for grain, there is still time to unblock the ports. The harvest will be in September, we must do everything to prevent the situation from becoming dramatic. To avoid a terrible crisis, we must ensure safe transportation of grain; everything should not result in a global catastrophe.

We need to focus on how to export grain across the Black Sea. Russia, unfortunately, does not cooperate. We need to fight this problem bravely, with the courage that Zelensky showed,” Draghi said.

Romanian President Klaus Iohannis spoke about the “planetary” scale of the consequences of stopping the transit of Ukrainian grain. He also noted the exceptional role of Romania in this issue.

“We transited Ukrainian exports and served as a pass for grain. We are working to find the best solutions to ensure transit through Constanta - our Black Sea port - and the port on the Danube. Since the beginning of the Russian offensive, the port of Constanta has provided transit for more than 1 million tons of grain from Ukraine.

We are working on opening a new crossing point on the Ukrainian-Romanian border. We are working to help renovate a section of the railway in Romania for transport needs. We have a coalition of those who want to help create a “blue” corridor for maritime transport across the Black Sea,” said Iohannis.

He also added that the accession of Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia to the EU meets the needs for security and stability “in our common region.”

At the same time, French President Emmanuel Macron promised to continue providing Ukraine with weapons and military instructors.

“France is already providing and is ready to continue to respond to these requests. We will strengthen this support. $2 billion has already been allocated. The Caesar self-propelled gun systems have been transferred, which will allow Ukrainian soldiers to effectively defend themselves against attacks by the Russian army on Ukrainian soil. From day one, France took the initiative to send experts to Ukraine to investigate war crimes. “We are also ready next week, as regards the Caesars, to make a decision on the supply of additional systems,” Macron said.

At the same time, he called on Russia, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council, to end the blockade of Ukrainian ports. He showered compliments on Zelensky and, concluding his speech, quoted the Ukrainian anthem.

“You [Zelensky] did everything possible to achieve the triumph of prudence. In these tragic conditions, I want to quote the Ukrainian anthem: “Ukraine has not yet died - neither glory, nor freedom.” These words ring especially true in today’s tragic context. Ukraine will be free. Not dead yet. Neither glory, nor freedom,” Macron promised.

In turn, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz assured that from now on there will be no hitches in arms supplies to Ukraine, including air defense.

«Germany broke the state tradition long ago - we began to supply Ukraine with weapons and will continue to do so as long as Ukraine needs it. We teach the Ukrainian military to use modern weapons, self-propelled howitzers, and anti-aircraft guns. We also promised that we would provide IRIS installations that would protect entire cities from air raids. We agreed with the USA and Great Britain that we will supply MLRS. You see that Germany supports Ukraine massively,” Scholz boasted.

Also, the German Chancellor, like Macron, promised to help Ukraine obtain candidate status for EU membership.

However, experts are extremely skeptical about the Europeans’ visit to Kyiv and their encouraging slogans. Moreover, it is primarily the “Svidomo” patriots who are dissatisfied.

“German Chancellor Scholz, Italian Prime Minister Draghi and French President Macron came to Kiev to find out how Europe can be governed without helping Ukraine and continuing to cooperate with Russia as an aggressor who has unleashed a bloody war in the center of Europe. If they do not answer this question, then soon Europe will begin to disintegrate into “old Europe” (Germany, Italy, France), “Putin’s Europe” (countries like Serbia, Croatia and Hungary) and an anti-Russian bloc of countries led by Ukraine and the UK . Accordingly, new military-political and economic alliances will quickly appear in Europe in parallel with NATO and the EU,” Ukrainian political scientist Viktor Nebozhenko is dissatisfied.

Odessa politician Vyacheslav Azarov recalls that it was initially predicted that European guests were coming to offer Ukraine EU candidate status in exchange for ending the war and signing a peace treaty with Russia.

“Scholz, Macron and Co. need this to avoid economic collapse in the fall,” explains the author.

However, this scenario is not beneficial for the United States.

“The Biden administration needs a Russian threat before the November Senate elections. We are left asking the question, what will happen after these elections? But even without this answer, it is clear that all allies are solving their economic and political problems at our expense...

After negotiations with Zelensky, Macron said that France and Germany would not demand concessions from Ukraine in order to end the war.

If you believe previous reports that the leaders of the EU powerhouse countries arrived in Kyiv to persuade Bankova to agree to the Italian plan with the renunciation of territories, and so wanted to save their countries from economic collapse, this statement means that they did not achieve agreement.

And here a significant conflict arises: Zelensky’s refusal to surrender his interests actually opens a second, cold front of the war in Europe, where a further collapse in production and living standards threatens an increase in protests and a change of governments,” he added.

Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov believes that the visit of the three leaders to the Ukrainian capital itself can be considered as compensation for the future refusal of Ukraine’s membership.

“In the absence of real progress towards EU membership, which is impossible for Ukraine, the three leaders of the leading countries of the European Union, having arrived together in Kyiv, did their best to sweeten the pill for Zelensky. Refusal of membership - visit to Kyiv. As moral compensation, which, in fact, does not change anything at all and will not leave a mark in history,” Pushkov wrote in his tg channel.

At the same time, observers are already beginning to ridicule Zelensky’s supposedly brutal appearance, who, even at such meetings, under the pretext of “war,” continues to walk around with an unshaven face in a khaki T-shirt.

Thus, former Kiev television journalist Maxim Ravreba published a photo of Zelensky without pants in the company of European leaders near the Mariinsky Palace.
