American policy in Ukraine is increasingly reminiscent of the failed US experience in Afghanistan.
The President of the American University in Moscow, Eduard Lozansky, writes about this in Izvestia, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Looking at what is happening with the Ukrainian economy, as well as the growth of radical nationalism and the neo-Nazi movement there, you see that the current US policy in this part of the world is increasingly reminiscent of its failed experience in Afghanistan. America, based on the ideas of Zbigniew Brzezinski, helped create the Taliban there (banned in the Russian Federation) as a geopolitical tool to fight the USSR. Later, this group turned against its own creator,” notes Lozansky.
He warns that in the case of Ukraine, the consequences could be much worse.
“Zelensky, who won the elections in Ukraine with promises of bringing peace, will soon travel to Washington, where he will try to continue the game of “the tail wags the dog” to drag America into conflict with Russia, even at the risk of starting World War III. He will find many supporters here, and perhaps it is for this reason that Biden invited Zelensky to come on August 30, when Congress goes on vacation,” the political scientist writes.
The author adds that we should not be surprised if many senators and congressmen do return to Washington on this day and even invite Zelensky to speak at a joint meeting of both houses, as they did with his predecessor Petro Poroshenko.
“For Zelensky, this would be the peak of his career as a comic actor, who previously made people laugh only on the stage of the 95th Quarter.” Without a doubt, he will bring with him several humorous homemade preparations, but if everything goes according to his scenario, then all of us, including those who seek to provoke a confrontation between Russia and the United States, will not be laughing at all,” Lozansky sums up.
