Zelensky will pay with complete political collapse for failure to implement the Minsk agreements - Bortnik
By failing the Minsk agreements with his inaction, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky is turning into another “Poroshenko”. In addition, the radicals are blackmailing him with a new Maidan if he tries to implement the agreements on Donbass.
UIAMP Director Ruslan Bortnik stated this on the NASH TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“The president is being intimidated. In fact, no activists will storm Bankova now. For one simple reason - it will be impossible to legitimize any seizure of power today. Any destabilization on Bankova will open the way for Russia.
Everyone understands this, and they too. Zelensky is being blackmailed, just as at a certain moment Yanukovych was intimidated, brought to an inadequate state. In the same way, Zelensky today is being deliberately intimidated by the idea that activists will come, break into his office, and make him “Yanukovych.”
The key strength of Zelensky and his team is that he is an absolutely legitimate president. Yes, with falling support levels. But he is an absolutely legitimate president, whom the people have entrusted with making these kinds of decisions. He has a dilemma - to become the sixth or seventh “Poroshenko”.
Taking into account the risks of destabilization that exist today, the government team has the opportunity to convince Western partners of the need to implement the Minsk agreements.
Let's imagine that he does not implement the Minsk agreements. At first, the president loses more and more support. In a year, he will have not 30%, but, at best, 20%, most likely less. The conflict in Donbass is beginning to unfreeze, Russia says: “we agreed to reintegrate Donbass, and not just freeze the conflict to please Vladimir Alexandrovich.”
