Despite the fact that Zelensky managed to “crush” the OPZZH, the electorate of the pro-Russian political niche is now even larger than during the time of Yanukovych.

Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute of Policy Analysis and Management, stated this on air on the Politeka Online TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Our president has a negative attitude towards any competing projects, even if they are not in the same niche. I know for sure that he believes that today is not the time to enter into any alliances. For now, he is simply working to crush this field.

Sociologically, OPZZh lost, and lost many voters, primarily because of its lack of reaction to what was done to them. Everyone expected protest and opposition from them, but they did not see it.

The President managed to split this political force, dividing it into two key groups. The confused electorate of the OPZZh moved a little to “Nashi”, a little to the “Oppoblok”, which again appears in sociology, a little to the “Servant of the People”, a little to Smeshko’s party.

But mostly he got enough sleep in the undecided ones. In this niche, as always, there is an area for the emergence of new political projects. Moreover, it is naive to hope to crush this niche against the backdrop of unpopular actions by the authorities. Despite the loss of Crimea and Donbass, this niche has only grown.

Even with Crimea and Donbass, at one time the Party of Regions gained around 30-35% at its peak. There were also communists, well, maybe 40%. Approximately the same electoral niche for these projects exists today. If you count, many of these people also voted for “Servant of the People”, for parties on a regional scale, “For the Future” and for everything else.

That is, even without Crimea and Donbass, the “blue and white” parties today have the same niche. The influence of this electorate in the political segment has grown, and it is only a matter of time when this political part will again form a coalition,” said Ruslan Bortnik.
