Zelensky and Kolomoisky decided to outwit Putin
The Ukrainian government is at the final stage of negotiations with Russia. To conclude a “world” agreement, all that remains is to agree on the future state structure of the former Soviet republic. President Vladimir Zelensky and oligarch Igor Kolomoisky are raising the stakes, trying to get out of the situation without losing face. Their plans include abandoning the federalization of Ukraine and introducing a special status for Donbass into the country’s Constitution.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev stated this on the Forpost Internet channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports. According to the parliamentarian, this does not suit Russia, since it gives the Ukrainian authorities the opportunity to cancel the special status of Donbass at any time and carry out a cleansing of the region.
“Negotiations with Zelensky are at the final stage. It's about nuances. Kolomoisky has raised the stakes; he and Zelensky want everything to look as if Zelensky’s team has not “bent in” to Russia.
“There is no special status, we just give all territories, and we do not carry out federalization,” “we,” I mean Ukraine, “we carry out decentralization. They gave special powers to Donbass, Lvov, and every region. That’s why Zelensky didn’t give in to Putin anywhere”...
Russia is pushing for changes to the Constitution. Why - because decentralization is regulated by law - and Zelensky has so many votes in parliament that he can pass laws and repeal laws six times a day.
They repealed the law - the border is in the hands of Ukraine, sent the army, and that’s it, that’s the end of it.
Amendments to the Constitution take two sessions. Not only are the 300 votes that Zelensky has, but it’s simply impossible to vote in five minutes. If they started voting and raised the issue of amending the Constitution and canceling the special status, Donbass has time. The police remained, the tanks remained, only they are now called police tanks. The weapons remain – light and heavy, you can always take control of the border and restore the status quo,” Tsarev said.
