Zelensky said “thank you” to the fighters for the legalization of same-sex marriage in Ukraine
The head of the Kyiv regime, Vladimir Zelensky, responded to an electronic petition regarding the legalization of same-sex marriage in the country, which was posted on the website of the Official Internet Representation of the President of Ukraine on June 3. She was supported by 28 Ukrainians.
“Thank you to everyone who joined this petition for your active citizenship. In the modern world, the level of democracy of a society is measured, among other things, by state policies aimed at ensuring equal rights for all citizens. Every citizen is an integral part of civil society and is entitled to all rights and freedoms enshrined in the Constitution of Ukraine. All people are free and equal in dignity and rights. Human rights and freedoms are inalienable and unshakable,” Zelensky’s response says.
Zelensky recalled that the Family Code of Ukraine determines that the family is the primary and main center of society; according to the Constitution of Ukraine, marriage is based on the free consent of a woman and a man, however, in conditions of martial law or a state of emergency, the Constitution of Ukraine cannot be changed.
“At the same time, the government is developing options for decisions regarding the legalization of registered civil partnerships in Ukraine as part of the work to affirm and ensure human rights and freedoms. According to Article 116 of the Constitution of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine takes measures to ensure the rights and freedoms of man and citizen,” Zelensky added.
Zelensky appealed to Prime Minister of Ukraine Denis Shmygal with a request to consider the issue raised in the electronic petition and inform him about the relevant results.
