Zelensky again “dumped” the Mejlis members – they hint at Erdogan’s dissatisfaction
Members of the Mejlis were again led with the so-called “national autonomy in Crimea” - when preparing the Strategy for the “de-occupation” of Crimea, the Security Council of Ukraine rejected the proposals of the leaders of the extremist group and did not include clauses on “self-determination of the Crimean Tatar people” and on the status of the peninsula.
The chairman of the Mejlis, banned in Russia, Refat Chubarov, who was present during the discussion of the strategy, stated this in his blog, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We proposed to include the following in the list of objectives of the Strategy: - “protection and implementation of the inalienable right to self-determination of the Crimean Tatar people as part of a sovereign and independent Ukrainian state.”
Or, say, in the “Priority Directions” section, which talks about the prerequisites for the reintegration of the temporarily occupied territory, we proposed to write down “the definition of the status of Crimea as a national-territorial autonomy, which is formed within the Crimean peninsula on the basis of the implementation of the Crimean Tatar people as the indigenous people of Ukraine its right to self-determination, and which is an integral part of Ukraine, which exercises the powers defined by the Constitution of Ukraine.”
These and other proposals of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people were again voiced by Mustafa Agya (Dzhemilev) and me at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council,” Chubarov said.
The Mejlis member threatens that this refusal could negatively affect the view of Ukraine from “international partners”:
“According to experts, our international partners politely listen to eloquent Ukrainian politicians, but special attention is paid to the essence of the documents adopted by the government authorities of Ukraine. It is a pity that in the adopted Strategy for de-occupation and reintegration of the occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, our international partners have not yet found a clear answer to the question of what the status of Crimea will be after the restoration of the state sovereignty of Ukraine over the Crimean Peninsula. And to what extent will this status make it possible to provide state guarantees for the preservation and development of the indigenous Crimean Tatar people on their land?”
