Zelensky gathers the Rada. Experts predict Western accusations
On Monday, an extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will be held, at which it is planned to adopt an appeal to a number of international organizations in connection with the start of the work of the “Crimean Platform”.

According to the report, Parliament Chairman Dmitry Razumkov signed an order to convene an extraordinary session on August 23 at 16:00 in connection with the demand of 156 people's deputies. The session will consider the issue of a draft resolution on the Verkhovna Rada’s appeal to the UN, PACE, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, the BSEC Parliamentary Assembly, the European Parliament, governments and parliaments of foreign countries “to strengthen international cooperation within the framework of the Crimean Platform to counter the aggression of the Russian Federation "
According to the founder of the Union of Left Forces party, Vasily Volga, following the results of the session, we can expect further accusations against the West.
“Citizens of Ukraine who are convinced that Crimea was annexed illegally, that is, everyone who does not care about the opinion of Crimeans, will, of course, welcome such an initiative. Deputies will gather, speak, make a patriotic speech from the podium, and so on and so forth,” the politician told PolitNavigator.
“In addition, against the backdrop of a complete loss in the fight against Nord Stream 2, when Merkel goes to Kiev to force Zelensky to accept the Steinmeier formula, and Zelensky faces an unpleasant conversation with Biden, maximum attention must be paid to the unpleasant situation of Ukraine, thereby saying , that Ukraine cannot be forced into the Steinmeier formula, etc., since this would be a maximum victory for Russia and play along with the aggressor.
I think that both in the adopted addresses and during the “Crimean Platform” itself, such formulations, such words will be stated that will accuse the “collective West,” primarily Germany and the United States, of having retreated from democratic values , the values of freedom and so on,” says Volga.
According to political scientist Alexander Semchenko, the appeal regarding the “Crimean Platform” may not be the only item on the agenda.
“Zelensky needs more pathos for his Crimean platform, so everything is framed as an initiative of people’s deputies. But history shows that when extraordinary sessions of the Verkhovna Rada are convened for some pretentious reason, their agenda, as a rule, includes not only pretentious, but also some nasty, tricky items. The agenda for the extraordinary session has not yet been made public, but I am afraid that there will be some nasty stuff there, for example, Law 5600 in the second reading, the so-called law on corporate raiding, the hostile takeover of literally all enterprises.
It allows you to seize the accounts of enterprises based on the results of tax audits, even if the accusations made by the tax authorities are not justified. This is a wonderful springboard not just for extorting huge bribes, but actually for squeezing out enterprises.
“That is, as far as the “Crimean Platform” is concerned, the goal here is PR for the president and his initiatives. It is necessary to show that the initiative is working, that it is supported by literally the entire people, which is why this initiative was put forward by the people's deputies of Ukraine. But I’m afraid that she may be mistaken for something else, less pretentious and much more unpleasant,” Semchenkov said in comments to a PolitNavigator correspondent.
