Zelensky is building an authoritarian regime - Kyiv political scientist
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky is building an authoritarian regime in the country and, as soon as the fighting ends, he will try to completely reformat the Verkhovna Rada and the Constitution of the country.
Political scientist Konstantin Bondarenko stated this at a press conference in Kyiv, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A personalized authoritarian regime is being built in Ukraine, which we will face after the war, immediately, in the first days after the war. It is obvious that as soon as the war ends...
My prediction is that literally the very next day, President Zelensky will issue a decree on the early termination of the powers of the current Verkhovna Rada and on early elections to the Verkhovna Rada, where he will hope to bring his political force to the Verkhovna Rada, which will no longer provide him with just a majority, but a constitutional majority,” the expert said.
“It is also obvious that the issue of a new Constitution will be on the agenda - not changes to the Constitution, but a qualitatively new Constitution, which will open a completely new page in the history of Ukraine.
Why? Let’s say frankly that after February 24 we live in a completely different state, we live in completely different conditions, a completely different quality of society, and this quality of society requires a new Basic Law that will describe a new state of affairs and ensure a new quality of relations between political entities.” , Bondarenko said.
