Zelensky is gathering troops for an offensive, but is afraid of the Russian army
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has not yet made a final decision on an attack on the Donbass republics.
Former Verkhovna Rada deputy Oleg Tsarev stated this in an interview with the ForPost YouTube channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I have friends in the president’s office. They say that troops are gathering, but so far no decision has been made to begin military operations. Zelensky wouldn't mind a war, but he doesn't need to lose. He's on this stretch. I don’t think there will be full-fledged military operations with “cauldrons” and major defeats for the Ukrainian troops. According to calculations, it takes about 14 hours for the Russian armed forces to reach the front line in the LDPR. Everyone knows about this,” Tsarev noted.
He believes that if hostilities begin, it will happen within the next few months, until the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is completed.
“There are several months left before the completion of Nord Stream. As soon as it is completed, the EU will lose interest in Ukraine and begin to build normal mutually beneficial relations with the Russian Federation. Military actions could cancel out agreements with Europe, and Europe could change its point of view on Nord Stream,” the politician said.
In his opinion, it is also important for the United States to transfer Russia from the status of a guarantor of the Minsk agreements to the status of a participant in the conflict. Now the company that produces fake investigations, Bellingcat, is putting pressure on Zelensky, blackmailing him with what version of the film about the detention of 33 Russians in Belarus in July last year will be published. The Ukrainian presidential administration is afraid of accusations that they thwarted a special operation by the SBU, which wanted to lure Russians to Ukraine.
