Zelensky strengthened Poroshenko with his own hands - Pogrebinsky
The blame for the significant strengthening of the political power of ex-President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko after the local elections lies entirely with the current President Vladimir Zelensky.
Ukrainian political scientist Mikhail Pogrebinsky said this via video link from Kyiv on the Rossiya 1 TV channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Poroshenko’s party has significantly strengthened its position and will have the opportunity to impose, especially given their extremist style of behavior. They managed to clear this field, at least in the Center and in the East, where this nationalist party, the same Svoboda party, made its way - and then it received votes in the East, now this is not the case. And in fact, those radical parties, those who voted for these parties, voted for Poroshenko.
Poroshenko thus received representation in regional and city councils in many regions. And in Lvov he will compete with Sadovoy for the position of mayor of Lvov. In other, smaller cities, the situation is also similar.
The obvious strengthening of Poroshenko is the weakness and helplessness of the law enforcement system and Zelensky, who is afraid of older comrades who do not give him the opportunity to figure it out, and maybe he himself does not dare,” Pogrebinsky said.
“In any case, today the situation has developed in such a way that we are partly returning to the political situation that existed before the “green wave”, which completely cleared the field. 73 percent voted for the new young guy, who turned out to be a weak and helpless president. And now the process of disappointment or a certain stage of this disappointment ends. In fact, the president’s party, if there were parliamentary elections now, would apparently be in third place,” the political scientist added.
