Under no circumstances should Russia slow down the pace of its offensive and move forward on the shoulders of the retreating Ukrainian army.

This, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports, was stated by a military analyst, retired special forces colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, assessing the current situation on the fronts of the Northern Military District.

“What is happening now in the Ukrainian media suggests that the country’s authorities do not know what to do. What was happening was truly a disaster.

The defense of two key cities in the line of fortifications - Ugledar and Artemovsk - is collapsing. Ukrainian forces can no longer hold them. What is Zelensky doing against this background? He, as the Supreme Commander-in-Chief, transfers trained reserves, those who have been trained in Germany and Great Britain, to these sectors of the front.

Military personnel go into battle without the support of aviation and artillery. Calling a spade a spade, he simply throws these people into a meat grinder, where Russian formations grind them. Zelensky believes that by holding Artemovsk and Ugledar, he will be able to repel Russia’s offensive, but we will take them and move on to fulfill our assigned tasks.

The United States expects a counterattack from the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the spring, when heavy Western artillery and tanks arrive in Ukraine. Hence the constant contradictions with Zaluzhny. The latter, as a military specialist, is better aware of the situation. The president is guided by personal ambitions,” Matviychuk told Moskovsky Komsomolets.

He draws attention to the fact that Ukraine needs a respite to train new units and supply Western equipment and ammunition.

“If we don’t give them this respite, then they will be forced to bring their “elite” corps into battle, not provided with weapons and everything necessary. The crisis of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is that there are no prepared reserves. The mobilization they are trying to carry out in the country is failing. They grab people on the streets and send them to the front, but they are not soldiers. Against this background, Kyiv objectively cannot yet fulfill the plan to prepare two corps for a counter-offensive by March,” the expert believes.

The analyst is convinced that under no circumstances should Ukraine be given time.

“Now our main task is not to stop and negotiate, but to move forward on the shoulders of the retreating Ukrainian army as far as we have the strength,” the colonel added.

He is confident that Russia has the necessary forces for this advancement.

“We have prepared reserves, which we have managed to train since mobilization. We have also increased the supply of weapons to the front. Now we have enough weapons and ammunition. “In my opinion, now we are stronger than ever,” Matviychuk concluded.
