Zelensky is losing control of his faction in the Rada
Most of the Servant of the People faction in the Ukrainian parliament is focused on oligarchs and their own interests, and not on President Vladimir Zelensky.
Political scientist Ruslan Bortnik stated this on TV channel 112, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
According to the expert, the ruling mono-majority is degrading and by spring the faction will become practically uncontrollable.
“Speaking seriously, the president is gradually losing control not just over parliament, but also over his faction... Today about 100 people in the faction are oriented towards the president. Of those 250 or 252. The remaining 150 people are people who focus on influence groups - oligarchs who have brought their teams into the president’s party, regional elites, regional players, and are interested in working in the regions, for their own interests.
People just came, sat, looked - this one became richer, that one became richer, there was an envelope, there was an envelope, and I passed the cash register. All this begins to be calculated and the faction is controllable, but with restrictions, not in all cases. If this trend continues, by spring it will be conditionally manageable.
There will be a faction, but you will have to negotiate with it every time. Each time, you will no longer have to take an envelope with you, but take either the prosecutor general and the head of the SBU, but this is temporary, or take a bag with you, and not envelopes. It will no longer be possible to govern just like that... Unfortunately, so far this story of two months of the Servant of the People faction in parliament is a story of disappointment and degradation. Society perceives this,” Bortnik said.
