Zelensky demands Putin to name the date for the “drain” of Donbass
During the upcoming meeting in the “Normandy format”, specific deadlines should be determined for the return of Donbass to the control of Kiev, as well as for the extradition to Ukraine of all participants in the punitive operation, the remaining spies, saboteurs and extremists.
Such demands were voiced by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky during a joint briefing with Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babis, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We need to agree on the return of our territories. I’m talking about at least some clear deadlines, that is, I want to talk about the return, de-occupation of Donbass with some more or less clear deadlines.
We are talking about the release of our guys, about the exchange of prisoners or the phrase “exchange of all for all.” For me personally, for our government and for society, there also needs to be more specifics. We want to bring all our people home. I also want to say when, if all, then when. For me, the answer to the word “when” is specific dates, in the near future,” Zelensky said.
At the same time, the Ukrainian president stated that local elections in Donbass can only be held in the absence of certain “illegal formations.”
“There are serious issues related to the security situation, humanitarian, social issues, issues related to local elections.
That is, we must talk about the possibility of holding local elections after there are no illegal armed groups there. We have to start this conversation, so what will be discussed there, how, whether it will be dry or not, is not important. Specific things are important,” Zelensky concluded.
Such a statement caused a sharp reaction in the Donetsk People's Republic.
