Zelensky is moving into an unattainable lead
Vladimir Zelensky has a significantly higher electoral rating than the other most likely candidates for reaching the second round of the presidential elections in Ukraine.
This is evidenced by the results of a survey conducted by the Sofia Center for Social Research, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
If presidential elections were taking place at the time of the survey, then four candidates would have the best chance of reaching the second round: Vladimir Zelensky, Yulia Tymoshenko, Petro Poroshenko and Yuriy Boyko.
Among respondents who will participate in the elections, 20,3% plan to vote for Vladimir Zelensky, 13,9% for Yulia Tymoshenko, 13,1% for Petro Poroshenko, and 11,7% for Yuriy Boyko.
Other candidates have support levels of less than 10%. In particular, Anatoly Gritsenko is supported by 7,1% of respondents (among those who will vote), Oleg Lyashko - 4,6%, Alexander Shevchenko - 2,3%, Igor Smeshko - 2,2%, Alexander Vilkul - 2,1 %, Ruslan Koshulinsky - 1,9%, Evgenia Muraeva - 1,8%.
“Thus, compared to the previous survey, we see that, firstly, the group of leaders remains stable. These are candidates with more than 10% of electoral support. Zelensky's rating has increased slightly, Tymoshenko's rating has decreased slightly, Poroshenko's rating has increased slightly, and Boyko's rating has strengthened slightly. But all these changes in these indicators are within the statistical error,” Alexander Levtsun, head of sociological programs at the Sofia Center for Contemporary Art, commented on the survey results.
He also noted that the leaders of the presidential race are accumulating votes.
“In total, 59% of respondents support them. Thus, the leaders of the presidential race are accumulating votes. The number of voters who focus on leaders is growing, while the support of those who have a low level of support is decreasing. In particular, I would like to draw attention to the statistically significant decrease in support for Evgeniy Muraev,” the sociologist said.
The survey was conducted from February 26 to March 4, 2019 in all regions of Ukraine (controlled territories). A total of 2018 respondents aged 18 years and older were surveyed. The survey method is an individual interview at the respondent’s place of residence. The statistical error does not exceed 2,2%.
