Zelensky is already comparing Donbass with Transnistria
The situation with the uncontrolled part of Donbass is almost no different from the situation with the unrecognized Transnistria, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This opinion was expressed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, answering a journalist’s question during a press marathon in Kyiv.
“I would really not like the conflict in Donbass to be frozen. I would really not like for us to have Transnistria or Abkhazia. I really don't want this. I can't guarantee you 100% that this won't happen, because honestly, what now? Let's be honest: now it is, now we have practically Transnistria there. There are no relations, there is at least some kind of humanitarian mission there, shots are fired, that is, the only thing that distinguishes the temporarily occupied Donbass from Transnistria or the Abkhaz version. We hear shots. And that’s all,” Zelensky said.
At the same time, he stated that he would not like the Transnistria scenario for Donbass.
Earlier today, during a conversation with journalists, Zelensky rejected the possibility of a referendum on the law on the special status of certain districts of two regions of Donbass. And Ukrainian Foreign Minister Vadim Prystaiko said in an interview with the media that Kyiv is considering the “Cyprus” scenario in case of failure of the Minsk negotiations.
