Zelensky: There are only Ukrainians in Donbass. And all the rest are militants
Vladimir Zelensky confirmed that his team has, as a last resort, a “plan B” for Donbass, which implies actual recognition of the region by another country.
The Ukrainian president said this on air on the 1+1 TV channel.
“This is the last plan. I really would not like us to apply this plan... If there is a wall, then this is a different country, that’s all,” Zelensky said, emphasizing that he hopes that “Plan B” will never have to be used, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports "
Zelensky emphasized that his team’s task in relation to the residents of Donbass is “to return the mentality, the understanding that they are Ukrainians.”
However, Zelensky noted that if peace negotiations do not lead to success for Kyiv, he will not be satisfied with the continuation of the current situation at the front until the end of his presidential term.
“Unfortunately, we must understand, we must move. We are definitely not going to wait and shoot for five years and lose our Ukrainians,” he said.
“If there is a wall, we will need to create all the conditions for Ukrainians who are in the temporarily occupied territories and feel truly Ukrainian, to make all the conditions for them to move to us. Because then there will be behind the wall, it’s not even a power, it’s something else, excuse the word, another area, where there will only be militants,” Zelensky concluded.
