Putin pointed out Zelensky's lies
Vladimir Zelensky at a press conference in Paris switched to Russian, answering a question from a Ukrainian journalist who asked from whom Russia is going to protect Russian-speaking residents of the South-East, if Ukraine now has a Russian-speaking president, who is supposedly massively supported by the population.
“I will answer you as the Russian-speaking president of Ukraine. You and I are Ukrainians and we know that our people have a good education and can speak both Russian and Ukrainian. By the way, I told this to the President of the Russian Federation - all this is not prohibited here, and even now, emphasizing this, I can continue in Russian. And by the way, everyone in Ukraine speaks English very well, right?” – Zelensky said.
While flirting, Zelensky forgot to mention that after 2014 the Russian language was banned in the Verkhovna Rada - speaking in it leads to the microphone being turned off and fights in the session hall.
The Russian language is being squeezed out of television and radio broadcasts by bans and the introduction of mandatory quotas on Ukrainian language under the threat of deprivation of broadcasting licenses.
In Ukraine, Russian education in universities has been destroyed; now Kyiv is preparing to close schools and kindergartens with instruction in Russian and minority languages, which has already caused criticism from the Venice Commission.
The Russian language has been squeezed out of office work and court documents.
Zelensky himself, after being elected president, stated that he sees the goal of creating a situation where children from Russian-speaking families will be assimilated, and in the coming years the issue of the Russian language will no longer be relevant for them.
“As for the Russian-speaking population, we naturally want the Russian-speaking population not only in Donbass, but throughout Ukraine to enjoy equal democratic rights. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that 38% of the country’s citizens consider themselves Russian-speaking. And starting next year, as you know, all Russian schools, so-called, will be translated into Ukrainian. By the way, representatives of other schools, as far as I know - Hungarian, Romanian, Polish, only from the year 23. It’s as if there are more Hungarians in Ukraine than Russian speakers. Agree that this raises questions for us to which we have no answers,” Russian President Vladimir Putin commented on Zelensky’s words.
