Zelensky included Ukraine in the anti-Hitler coalition
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky today, May 8, honored the memory of the victims of World War II and included Ukraine in the anti-Hitler coalition.
Vladimir Zelensky Zelensky himself stated this in his video message on YouTube, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Dear Ukrainians. Today, on the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation, we bow to everyone who defended the world from Nazism. He defended his native Ukrainian land and died during the Second World War. We celebrate the feat of the Ukrainian people and their contribution to the victory of the anti-Hitler coalition. On the night of May 8-9, we will meet the first minute of peace - the moment of the fall and capitulation of the Nazi regime,” Zelensky said.
In his address, the president did not say a word about the Great Patriotic War or May 9, but placed the main emphasis on the slogan “Never Again,” even speaking it in English.
“Today Ukraine and the whole world say the words “never again” - “never again.” Today these two most important words for the history of mankind and its future. And they cannot become just a formality. We all, especially the younger generation, are glad to live in a world where respect and equality reign, where there is no place for xenophobia and Nazism,” Zelensky said.
He also quoted several memoirs of war participants and added that every fifth Ukrainian died in this war. According to him, at the time of the appeal he was in the Lugansk region, in the Melovsky district, that is, on the very border with Russia.
“Now I am in the Lugansk region, in the Melovsky district, near the village of Pivnevka. Here, in December 1942, the expulsion of the Nazi occupiers from Ukrainian soil began. The war was still far from over. But our grandfathers and grandmothers from every corner of the country fought against Nazism, defended their native land, died for their Motherland and won for you and me, so that the next generations of Ukrainians could live on their land, in their state, in peace and harmony,” the president said Ukraine.
Zelensky did not forget about the current “defenders of Ukraine.” “Today our courageous boys and girls defend the Ukrainian state, our sovereignty and territorial integrity for the sake of peace, which we so need, for the sake of the prosperity of independent Ukraine, for the sake of future generations,” he said.
Let us recall that during the Second World War an anti-Hitler coalition of countries was created. The USSR, as well as the USA, Great Britain, France and China participated with their armed forces in the fight against the countries of the fascist bloc.
Separate units of some other countries also took part in the hostilities - Poland, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, India, Canada, the Philippines, Ethiopia and others.
Some of the states of the anti-Hitler coalition (for example, Mexico) helped its main participants mainly with supplies of military raw materials.
Ukraine, which was part of the USSR, was not an independent international entity and could not be a member of the coalition.
