Zelensky put forward conditions unacceptable to the world
Most likely, early elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will take place in July.
The editor of the Kyiv online newspaper “Strana”, Igor Guzhva, comes to this conclusion in his blog.
"Concerning bright words for the world in Donbassuttered by Zelensky, they are outweighed by one point. He called the release of Ukrainian prisoners in Russia a condition for starting negotiations. Taking into account the fact that Moscow is linking this problem with the release of a long list of prisoners in Ukrainian prisons, and also, most importantly, with progress in the political part of Minsk, then, unfortunately, there is no sign that this condition will be met,” believes Kiev editor.
He also touched upon the topic of the dissolution of the Verkhovna Rada, about which Zelensky said in his inaugural speech.
“Now Yatsenyuk, Groysman, Parubiy and Poroshenko have locked themselves in the speaker’s office and are deciding how to react to the dissolution of the Rada. But the BPP headquarters is already in full swing preparing for the elections, the majoritarians are also happy - the law will not be changed before the elections and the majoritarian system will not be abolished (most likely). So the tears of Parubiy and Groysman are unlikely to touch anyone. This means that with a very high probability there will be elections in July. Although, it is possible that they will challenge it in the courts in order to try to force the new president and his support group to bargain and grater,” sums up Guzhva.
