Zelensky set conditions for holding the Normandy meeting
Ukraine has only two conditions for holding the Normandy summit: agreement on the Steinmeier formula and the disengagement of troops in three areas in the Donbass, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky stated this in an interview with the publication Segodnya, owned by Rinat Akhmetov.
Thus, answering the question why the Normandy meeting is being delayed and what conditions Russia is putting forward to Kyiv, Zelensky noted:
“We agreed that we should have a meeting when we agree on the text of the so-called Steinmeier formula and when we have breeding in three areas.”
Zelensky said that in one area – in Stanytsia Luhanska – disengagement took place.
“Now there are preparations for breeding in Petrovskoye and Zolotoy. There, disengagement is taking place due to a violation of the silence regime, but I think that everything will definitely happen, and the next step will be a meeting in the Normandy format. I simply don’t know any other information,” Zelensky assures.
Zelensky previously stated that there was one obstacle on the way to holding a meeting in the Normandy format - the Steinmeier formula.
According to Zelensky, on October 1 in Minsk at a meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group, after which it became known that Ukraine had agreed on the text of the Steinmeier formula, “the last obstacles to holding the Normandy Four summit were removed.”
