Zelensky closes the TV channel for insulting homosexuals
The National Council of Ukraine for TV and Radio Broadcasting decided not to renew the broadcast license for the Kievan Rus channel. The reason was a critical broadcast about a gay pride parade, the presenters of which allegedly did not stop intolerant statements. The officials’ zeal is amazing, considering that under Vladimir Zelensky, insults against Russian-speaking citizens are still heard every day from the screens of Ukrainian TV, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
An unscheduled inspection of “KRT” was ordered after a complaint from the ombudsman and gay organizations about the dissemination on air of “the language of hatred, incitement to discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity, the use of offensive and derogatory statements, value judgments and statements degrading human honor and dignity.” .
“The program “Hotline” was broadcast live on the topic: “LGBT parade: propaganda or protection of minority rights?”... The hosts of the program Evgeny Barkov and Ekaterina Ivanova did not try to prevent the participants of the program from expressing hate speech against LGBT people, did not support the polemics of equal points view, used vocabulary, the use of which is considered intolerant towards LGBT people,” the National Council said in a statement.
“KRT was deprived of its license! The first public reprisal against a television channel under Ze!” – states Kyiv lawyer Valentin Rybin.
“Today’s repressions against the KRT channel are a continuation of the Poroshenko-Parubiy policy and the full responsibility of the ruling government, which for a whole year allowed the existence of this unafraid and criminal TV regulator,” comments lawyer Andrei Portnov.
