Zelensky announced receipt of US air defense systems guarding the White House
Vladimir Zelensky announced that Ukraine has received US NASAMS air defense systems. The US Department of Defense previously promised to transfer to Kyiv two medium-range batteries that operate within a radius of 20 to 180 km.
“This air defense system protects the White House and is considered one of the most effective in the world,” reported the notorious adviser to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko.
However, the Ukrainian media reported a few days ago that NASAMS had already been used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Dnepropetrovsk to destroy Iranian kamikaze drones, labeled by the Russian Armed Forces as “Geran-2”.
And the press service of the Verkhovna Rada published a photograph of a NASAMS dummy, which is placed to provoke Russian strikes on false targets.
Zelensky previously stated that Western complexes are also planned to be used in Kharkov.
Military correspondent German Kulikovsky explained why American air defense systems are dangerous.
“They are dangerous because, included in modern data exchange circuits, these complexes can be much more effective than Soviet complexes that are formally close to them in characteristics...
At the same time, at the first stage their number will be relatively small, which may give time to introduce methods to counter the new threat,” commented Kulikovsky.
