Zelensky will not be saved from a coup by appointing his own people at the head of the security agencies - expert
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky fears a coup involving the security forces and therefore appoints people loyal to him to lead the security agencies, but the security forces obey them only formally and will not listen if the situation escalates.
Political scientist Viktor Nebozhenko stated this on air on the Politeka Online channel, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“There is the Minister of Internal Affairs Monastyrsky, there is the head of the SBU and the future Minister of Defense, a civilian. The President is very afraid of the threat, a mythical threat for now, of a coup with the participation of the security forces. And he tries to appoint people he trusts who will be loyal to him.
Exactly the same problem - a civilian at the head of a security agency - in the SBU, and in the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The internal power bureaucracy obeys its own laws, they will not obey these people. They do everything that is beneficial to them, and so that everything is formally correct. But if the situation sharply escalates, the president will have to rely on some other people,” concludes Viktor Nebozhenko.
